I'm in love...
Stopped by a camera store downtown camera after work to take a look at the Nikon D200. I just couldn't help myself. What a beautiful camera!
Features I was really impressed with in the 15 mins I spent playing:
1. big, bright viewfinder... manual focus lenses have a new life on this body,
2. Very, very fast and accurate autofocus,
3. 5 fps capability,
4. Awesome playback zoom - I'm not sure what the magnification factor is, but I could zoom right into the eye of my friend when I took a sample portrait pic and could easily distuingish the sharpness in the retinas! No more pix that look awesome on the LCD but then turn out blurred when seen properly on the computer monitor.
5. It also has an awesome magnesium alloy body. With the battery grip on, it feels almost indistuingishable from the D2X (I was comparing them side-by-side in the store). It's almost the same size and weight (with the grip). I would feel very comfortable with this hanging off my neck while hiking through backwoods.
The only thing which wasn't impressive was the built-in flash... it seemed a little thin... I would not go so far as to call it flimsy, but it looked like that part was made of plastic, so relative to the rest of the body it just didn't seem too impressive. But built-in flash probably isn't the main selling-point for this camera.
Looks like I'll be selling my D70 on ebay very soon...
