The world's a'changing...
Seems the photography world is changing quite drastically nowadays. Last week Nikon announced they were dropping film camera manufacturing altogether. Wow. That is a huge decision that will make a significant impact in the photography world. It analogous to something like Paramount film studios saying they'll stop producing movies (they didn't say that). With Nikon out of the picture I'm sure film manufacturers will in suit drop their 35mm film production, and sooner or later it'll just die out. That said, a lot of people forget large and medium format film is still used in the industry, so maybe it'll just be a drop in 35mm film production. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
The other big announcement that just came out today was that Konica-Minolta is getting out of the photography business altogether! No more cameras - digital or film, photo paper or film. Sony will be carrying on some of their camera technology, but still that's a big change in the photo market.
Kinda sad seeing such drastic changes. But change can be good, and hopefully this will end up in a good way for the consumers.
