It's here!

Sooooo, on Monday I got a call from Downtown Camera that my D200 had arrived. I left work early, drove like crazy through a freak snow storm (that apparently only hit the north of Toronto), and picked up my camera and battery grip! Woohoo! After making sure I couldnt see any banding problems at the store I took home my new baby :)

And what a wonderful piece of machinery it is! The photos that come out of it are truly a step above my D70 (my other digital SLR). The quality and sharpness are surprisingly much improved. I was expecting the body and overall build of the camera to be much better than the D70 yes, but I didn't think there would be such a drastic change in the actual photo quality. I used to spend at least a few minutes on any pic I took on the D70 just tuning the clour and contrast. It seems the D70 sensor produces more anaemic looking photos than I realized! Anyway bottom line the D200 is worth every cent.

I've already taken about 500 shots on it in the last couple of days, but mostly of friends and family. I'm planning on going downtown this weekend and giving it a thorough workout! I'll post any shots I make on the blog.

I've also decided to keep the D70 instead of selling it off. I can always use a backup body, and I'm sure it might come in handy one of these days :)
