Summer is here

Well summer is here! That means World Cup, sports, BBQs, and summer blockbuster movies! :) It also means a lot of great strolls around the city, and some beautiful days to go shoot!

I haven't been out and about too much this month, but I did manage to go for a stroll along Toronto's harbourfront at sunset last week. It was a little cloudy, but that makes for great sunsets because of the way the light hits the clouds. A clear blue sky usually produces a more boring skyline, but still beautiful. It also rained for a short while, and I was lucky enough to catch a rainbow over the lake!

Here are a couple of shots I managed to take that day (click for bigger version):

I've been looking into getting some studio lights. I've heard good things about Alien Bees. Supposedly excellent bang for the buck.

I've also heard about a great little tripod maker out of Taiwan called Feisol. They make carbon fiber tripods which are half the price of Gitzos - one of the best tripod makers out there. From the reviews I've read, they're pro-quality and are becoming more popular in North America. A friend of mine ordered one, so I'll be able to get a 2nd hand account of how it handles.
